Kinemac 3D Real Time Animation Software
It must have been at least 10 years since I last looked at using 3D software, but I recently got tired of having to watch flat and boring Microsoft Powerpoint presentations. I mean really, some of these Powerpoints are total train wrecks and have you noticed that every presenter thinks their stuff rocks?! hehee.... Recently a friend of mine whom I've worked with for years gave one such preso, so I decided to communicate my frustration to him (I broke it to him gently, something like, "That presentation sucked. I was bored, you missed your target completely and I immediately started playing Tetris on my cell phone.") After I pulled the knife out of my car tire I shared with him a few ideas that I thought would improve his future presentations, and spare the rest of us some agony and cell phone battery life.
Give It Some Depth, Man
When I was in art school I learned so much from so many different people as it was quite the departure from my education in exercise science, chemistry and nutrition - I was forced to see the world differently and that was a very good thing. Right away I noticed I was representing my perception of the world in 2D, as a lot of us do. But once I learned a few things about 3D, depth, time and space I knew I could improve a lot of my work in a big way.
Use Kinemac For Cool Stuff in a Hurry
My little cfsnap-cube image merely scratches the surface of Kinemac's abilities. Take a visit to www.kinemac.com and check out some of the works in the Gallery. A lot of 3D software available in today's world is major, heavy duty stuff, meant to build virtual worlds, animated Shreks and the like. Kinemac won't take you quite that far and that's OK by me because I'm not a professional 3D animator but I needed something that would quickly enhance my web content, presentations, print pieces and demonstrations. As an example I've built this cfsnap-cube image as part of a bigger animation in several other 3D applications including Zaxwerks (a great piece of software and subject to an upcoming review) and I have to say, Kinemac built this little animation in just a few mouse clicks where other 3D apps either took me a lot longer or I just had to give up because I ran out of time. Support for the app is pretty good too, I had a question posted to the support forum and got a response within an hour, on a Sunday. A downside is that this app is $299, however you need to know that I'm the kind of guy who will buy an entire music CD just because I liked one song. To be honest, if I have a deadline or need something very specific and I can find an app like Kinemac that will not only do that one thing easily but plenty more cool stuff, then in my mind it's a no-brainer and money well spent. And did I mention this software is actually fun to use?
