My new Mac came today, YES! Wait, it has a new kind of Firewire connection and I don't have a cable for it, NO!
I'm a true Mac-addict, but jeesh, more ports and connection types on my new MacBook Pro? Naturally the first thing I do is run to my studio and plug in the firewire cable from my video camera to my new Mac, but I can't because it's a different kind of firewire. On top of that, my old firewire cable was already a "hard-to-find" item since it was 16 feet long. The real humor in this true story was the phone conversation I had with the sales rep at www.cablestogo.com, which went something like "... my old cable has both ends that are shaped flat on one side and rounded on the other side - but the new Mac laptop has a firewire port that looks like a little guy who's frowning...." Literally 14 hours later, the guy in Brown (or FedEx, I can't remember) is at my door with the cable and 30 seconds later my video camera and new Mac are trading bits and bytes.
